Quality assurance instruments in the in-company training process
The research project "Planning and organisation of training in the context of learning in the process of work" examines the question of how companies plan and organise their training. Based on the project results, a revision of the main committee recommendation 12 "Recommendation on the factual and temporal organisation of vocational training" is proposed.
In Germany, dual training largely takes place in companies. Even though these companies must adhere to various mandatory requirements in the training process, in practice there are many different ways of organising the company-based learning location. The research project "Planning and organisation of training in the context of learning in the process of work" takes a closer look at training practice in companies and is therefore highly relevant to questions of quality assurance in vocational education and training: The project provides an insight into the situation regarding the process quality of vocational training in Germany.
With the help of a telephone survey of companies and qualitative interviews, for example, the quality assurance tools used by companies during the training process and which stakeholders are involved in the process were analysed (see "Quality assurance tools in the training process", p. 53 ff.). The publication also highlights differences in the approach to planning and organising training between different training areas and company sizes.
Based on the results, this report derives recommendations for the organisation and support of vocational education and training (see "Recommendations for action", p. 105 ff.). These can be seen as a suggestion to develop certain quality-assuring standards and tools at system level in order to enable improved training practice.*
Chapter seven summarises the most important findings on the use of quality assurance instruments by companies of different sizes and in different sectors.
The key findings from DEQA-VET's perspective are summarised in the poster on the right.
* The project was carried out with the involvement of DEQA-VET. It was initiated by Department 2 "Structure and Organisation of Vocational Education and Training" at BIBB, which was also in charge of the project.
